Professional Vacuum Brazed Diamond Edge Profililing
The Vacuum Brazed Diamond Hand Grinder Profile Wheel range provides contractors with a fast and controlled method of creating consistent radius and bevel profiles on concrete, stone and suitable masonry edges.
Designed for use with compatible 5″ handheld grinders, these profile wheels combine an aggressive vacuum brazed diamond cutting surface with an integrated guide bearing to help the operator follow the edge and maintain a consistent profile.
Choose from 5mm, 10mm and 20mm radius profiles for rounded edges or a 10mm 45° bevel profile for creating a clean angled edge.
Each profile is available in 30, 60 and 120 grit, allowing the operator to progress from initial shaping through to increasingly refined edge preparation.
What Is Vacuum Brazed Diamond Technology?
Unlike conventional abrasive wheels, these profile wheels use vacuum brazed diamond technology.
During manufacturing, industrial diamond particles are bonded to the metal body using a specialised brazing alloy under controlled high-temperature vacuum conditions.
This process creates a strong bond between the diamond abrasive and the metal wheel while leaving a significant portion of each diamond particle exposed.
Why does this matter?
More exposed diamond means the abrasive can make direct contact with the material being profiled.
This gives vacuum brazed tooling several important characteristics:
- Fast cutting action
- Aggressive material removal

- Reduced tendency to simply rub against the surface

Vacuum Brazed vs Traditional Abrasives
The key advantage of vacuum brazed diamond tooling is the amount of diamond exposed at the working surface.
Rather than relying on a thick abrasive matrix that gradually wears away to expose new cutting particles, vacuum brazed tooling has diamond particles bonded directly onto the working surface.
This provides an open and aggressive cutting face, making it an excellent choice for edge profiling.
However, vacuum brazed profile wheels should not be confused with polishing pads.
Their primary purpose is to:
CUT → SHAPE → PROFILE → REFINE
If a high-gloss polished edge is required, the profile should generally be followed with the appropriate progressive diamond polishing system.

The 5mm Radius Profile Wheel creates a small rounded edge.
It’s an excellent option when you want to remove a sharp 90-degree corner while retaining most of the original edge shape.

10mm 45° Bevel
The 10mm 45° Bevel Profile Wheel creates a controlled angled profile rather than a rounded radius.

Three Grit Options
Each profile is available in 30, 60 and 120 grit, allowing you to choose the required level of cutting aggression.
30 Grit – Coarse / Aggressive
The 30 grit wheel provides the most aggressive cutting action.
Use it when substantial material needs to be removed or when initially establishing the required profile.

60 Grit – Medium
The 60 grit provides a balance between material removal and surface refinement.

120 Grit – Fine
The 120 grit provides the finest cutting action of the three available grits.
It is designed primarily for refining the profile and reducing scratches remaining from the coarser stages.

- Preparing an edge for subsequent polishing
Important: 120 grit is still a profiling/grinding stage. It should not be considered a substitute for a complete polishing system where a polished finish is required.
Recommended Grit Progression
For edges requiring substantial material removal, we recommend progressively working through the grits:
30 Grit → 60 Grit → 120 Grit → Polishing
30 Grit establishes the profile.
60 Grit removes the deeper scratches and refines the shape.
120 Grit further smooths and prepares the edge.
If a polished finish is required, continue with the appropriate polishing system after profiling.
Skipping grit stages may leave deeper scratches that become difficult to remove during later stages.
Integrated Guide Bearing
Each profile wheel incorporates a guide bearing designed to follow the edge of the workpiece.
The bearing assists the operator in maintaining the correct position of the profile wheel as it travels along the edge.
This provides greater control than attempting to manually create the same radius or bevel using a standard grinding wheel.
The guide helps produce a more consistent:

The operator should still use smooth, controlled movements and avoid forcing the wheel into the material.

Important Operating Information
Always ensure the profile wheel is correctly fitted and compatible with your grinder, including the spindle/thread connection and maximum operating RPM.
Do not exceed the profile wheel’s rated maximum RPM.
Use smooth, controlled passes rather than forcing the diamond wheel into the material. This is particularly important with larger profiles such as the 20mm radius, where considerably more material may need to be removed.
Always use appropriate PPE, grinder guarding and dust control/extraction for the material being processed.
Concrete hardness, aggregate type, reinforcement, material composition and operator technique can all influence cutting performance and the final result.
For decorative or finished surfaces, test the tooling on an inconspicuous area where practical before completing the entire job.
